What SIEX is, and why it affects you
SIEX (Sistema de Información de Explotaciones agrarias) is the Spanish national system that brings together the data of your agricultural holding, including the digital farm logbook. Paper is on its way out: recording treatments, fertilisation and land use moves to an electronic register. These obligations come from Spanish legislation and apply to holdings located in Spain.
The dates to put in your calendar
- 1 January 2026 — Nutrient application records. Already in force. Every application of fertiliser, manure or slurry must be entered in the logbook within one month of being carried out. During 2026, paper or digital are both acceptable.
- 1 September 2026 — Fertilisation plan. With one important exception: for irrigated production units whose crop is sown or planted between 1 March and 30 June 2026, the plan had to be in place by 1 January 2026.
- 1 January 2027 — Electronic recording of plant protection treatments. From this date, treatment records must be kept electronically.
- 1 January 2028 — Full digital logbook. For holdings above the size thresholds (see below).
Are you over the 2028 thresholds?
The full digital logbook applies to holdings with more than:
- 30 ha of total area, rainfed plus irrigated added together, or
- 5 ha of irrigated land, or
- 0.1 ha of greenhouse.

What happens if you do not keep it up to date
Non-compliance can mean losing between 3% and 100% of your CAP payments. It is not a fixed fine: it is a risk to your subsidy.
